about

The title comes from the alchemical principle that is often paraphrased, “As above, so below.” But, “Below”, is where we live, love, and die. “Below” is where we fight wars, drink coffee, and gaze out at rising rivers. “Below” is what we can hold in our hands

New things on this record include a fuzz pedal; songs recorded without any acoustic guitar parts; not one, not two, but three different drummers; and that high bit in the Coffee Song.

Thanks to Ben, Ryan, and Scott for their performances and the additional engineering & recording that went along with.

Thanks, once again, to Will Thornton for the loan of his bass & carbon mic.

Special thanks as well to my family; collaborators past, present, and future; and everyone who has taken the time to lend an ear.

Additional gratitude to Dr. Carleton.

On to the next.

Record Crates United notes that Jonathan walks the line between “country-tinged singer-songwriter fare and cosmic Americana.”

He works a day-job by day, hosts The Brokedown Podcast by night, and tries to spend time with his family in between.
